Decided to take the Hop on Hop off bus today to take a look around Hong Kong Island. First stop was Victoria Peak and the tram to the top. The queue at the bottom was long to say the least, something which we are not used to doing in NZ! The view from the top was spectacular, but as usual the ever present smog was hanging over the city. After having some lunch there, we headed out along the coast to the Stanley street markets. It was interesting to see the stark contrast between poor and rich living, the bays along the coast obviously homes to the more wealthy. The markets were teeming with people, probably a little worse due to the fact it was Sunday. After a quick look around , we decided it was time for a beer, so we sat our tired bodies down and enjoyed the hustle and bustle going on around us. Then it was back along the coastal road, back onto the ferry, finally getting back about 7pm. We attempted to find a restaurant serving Peking duck, but they were all booked so we settled on some chinese food (by that stage I don't think we really cared)!! On the walk back to the hotel, Martyn and Simon were approached by two ladies of the night wanting some business......lol. A fitting end to a full on day. Tomorrow we are off to Lantau Island on the cable car to see the giant buddha.
